Mafa Unik - Silos

Manufacturer : Mafa

The unloading sequence of the silo is exceptional as it unloads from the bottom, meaning that the feed that is put in first is also consumed first. The feed is also constantly moving around the edges of the silo. The large cyclone is gentle on the feed and pellets and allows efficient ventilation, so that no condensation water builds up in the silo.

There are differences in silos

At first glance, you might think that it doesn't matter what kind of silo you store your feed in, but on closer inspection, it does. Good feed hygiene is important. Simply preventing rodents and birds from getting hold of the feed is not enough. It is also important that the feed is always fresh and does not become clogged with condensation, which causes it to mould.

Specially shaped base

The base allows the feed that is driven in first to come out first. It is discharged over the full width of the silo, so there is no sorting and the quality of the feed remains consistent throughout. When the silo is filled by blowing, a large cyclone must be installed in the filling line to keep the feed pellets intact. The cyclone also helps the silo to breathe, allowing warm moist air to escape from the silo.

The roof angle matters!

The roof angle is also important. Mafa silos have a roof angle of up to 45 degrees. This means that its entire volume can be utilised. In addition, the steep roof angle makes it easier for warm air to escape. The silos are made of steel plates, which
are coated with a zinc-aluminium alloy, which is a much more durable coating than traditional galvanising. It is also very slippery and does not easily adhere to dirt.
