”Winner of the Practical Farmer's Harvest competition - System Cameleon produced a good harvest and the best result in a difficult harvest season!”
”System Cameleon produced a good harvest and the best result in a difficult harvest season. The key factors were wide strip-tillage, a wide nip in the cutting rim to prevent evaporation, a new nip in the harrow and mineralisation of the fertiliser. System Cameleon - for all farms
Today's farmer faces a number of demands, such as high yield targets, reduced pesticide use, carbon sequestration and efficient use of nutrients. Until now, these have been mutually exclusive requirements. System Cameleon has been developed to address all these requirements at once. It is therefore not only designed for organic farms, but is suitable for all farms.
Cameleon allows you to shape the soil for sowing, sowing and fertilising. You can rake row fields and at the same time fertilise and sow a catch crop or even oilseed rape in the row field. At the same time as raking, you can spray a herbicide, either against weeds or plant diseases, or a fungicide. Despite the large row spacing, Cameleon broadcast seeding has performed very well in crop competitions and has also produced good yields and high quality at low cost for conventional growers!
Automatic line tracking
Cameleon can be equipped with automatic line tracking. This allows for very precise harrowing and top dressing between the rows. The row tracking system is based on camera surveillance, which sends the data to a computer that guides the machine's implement between the rows. The machine can be quickly changed from a seed drill to a cultivator. The machine frame is hydraulically pushed sideways, working between the rows. The machine can be used, for example, to apply fertiliser in the spring, to rake weeds with great precision, to break up bark between the rows. It can also be used for sowing between existing rows, as scatter or row sowing, or on the surface. This offers entirely new possibilities for improving agricultural profitability by increasing the possibility of sowing autumn oilseeds, for example.
Yield increase through nutrient mineralisation
Cameleon has been shown to increase yields. When fertilizers are applied through a deep furrow when raking, the nutrients of the fertilizer are available 100%, for example in spring fertilization of autumn cereals. Nutrients are solubilised by the moisture at the soil surface and raking aerates and breaks capillarity at the surface, allowing better moisture retention in the soil and full nutrient uptake by plants. This allows you to make the best use of all your precious nutrients. When warm soil is raked, mineralisation occurs, meaning nutrients are released, allowing fast-growing plants to take up nutrients and reduce leaching. This happens ”for free”, so to speak, when weeds are mechanically raked and controlled and additional fertiliser is applied.
Steered wheels make the curves straight
System Cameleon can be ordered with fixed or steered wheels. The steered wheels offer many positive features. A sensor monitors the angle between the Cameleon and the tractor and automatically adjusts the rear wheels. The steered wheels are used effectively for both sowing and raking. They can also be used to compensate for side slopes in hilly fields. In curved fields, Cameleon's rear wheels closely follow the tractor's rear wheels. This way, the operator only has to concentrate on keeping the tractor between the rows.
Cameleon and GPS
A camera system is not required if there is the possibility to use the tractor's automatic steering with RTK accuracy. Driving lines and seed rows are recorded at the time of sowing. When it's time for additional fertilising, harrowing or sowing row spacing the system can automatically move the hoops into the correct positions. This means the driver doesn't have to concentrate on keeping the tractor in line and can focus on monitoring the quality of the work.
Cameleon in brief
- Modular system - seed drill, seed drill, harrow and fertiliser in one package
- Low tractive effort - 160hp tractor is sufficient for 8 m working width
- Places the seeds at a precise depth and row spacing, allowing them to be harrowed closer to the seed row than would otherwise be possible. This gives 40 % better weed control performance
- Highly accurate and automatic line tracking with camera and GPS technology
- Able to sow all mineral fertilizers and up to 1200 kg/ha of pelleted organic fertilizer
- Possibility to do several jobs on one frame
- Steered rear axle
- A cost-effective and unique solution for modern agriculture
- Better yields and more efficient use of nutrients and plant protection products
- Working widths 6 m, 8 m and 9 m
- Line spacing 25, 33 or 50 cm
